Giving to the Concert Band
If you would like to contribute to the MIT Concert Band, please mention the fund name and account number:
| Fund | Account Number |
|---|---|
| John Corley Fund | #3649830 |
| MIT Concert Band Fund (preferred) | #3653123 |
| Concert Band Expense Account | #2720090 |
The Corley Fund is in memory of John Corley. These funds are used for commissioning original music for the band. The first of these commissioned works is a piece entitled "Corley's March", written by John Bavicchi, premiered in Spring of 2003. The Corley Fund is doing very well at $142,000 (2003), which is enough to fund 1-2 commissioned works per year.
The MIT Concert Band Fund is an operational fund which pays for our yearly tour, purchasing sheet music and musical instruments, renting percussion, and paying our director's salary. Tour costs anywhere from $4000 to $10,000 per year, depending on length of stay. Ideally, this endowed operational fund will need $500,000 to generate an annual budget of $25,000, including a week-long tour. This fund is currently in need of donations.
You may also contribute to the Concert Band Expense Account, but we would prefer donations to go to the MIT Concert Band Fund.
Information on the giving process can be obtained from http://web.mit.edu/giving/.
The band appreciates your continuing support!!!
